Cycling/Desgrange/Montbéliard/Tour. Exceptional original pre - Lot 126
Cycling/Desgrange/Montbéliard/Tour. Exceptional original press photo, silver print, where we discover a Henri Desgrange (1865-1940) in the heart of his creation the Tour, and in motion, please. This very rare action photo is taken on Monday, July 18, 1921 in Montbéliard during the second control of the 12th stage (Geneva-Strasbourg, 371km). It was 11:29 am in the capital of France, and a first peloton of 30 champions led by the Belgian Hector Heusghem arrived at the control. We have never seen such a fever and such a population, Desgrange and Desmarets are at the 100 strokes... From the back, but almost more recognizable than from the front, the boss, with golf pants, his lion mane back, and his famous jacket brandishes the 3 fingers... "You have the right to 3 minutes, 3 minutes of neutralization only !!!" We can guess the rush, and the bright eyes of the children...This is the magic of the Tour. They were there. You are there too. It's 11:32 am, it's done in a flash, the best riders start again on their wheels. They arrive from Geneva, they already have 216 km in their canes, and Strasbourg, where Honoré Barthélémy will win, is still far away! 13X18/TBE.
