Women's sports/Violette Morris. Original file (7 items) on V - Lot 171
Women's sports/Violette Morris. Original file (7 items) on Violette Morris (1893-1944), devil of women's sports for some, muse for others: a) illustrated press clipping, Claqueseins (one feels stronger, more male after taking a Claqueseins, dixit Maurice la Violette, clope au bec, Cri Sportif, 21/8/1930); b) photocopy, double page of the article of l'As, of July 1927, "a curious representative of the weaker sex", by CA Gonnet; c) truncated article of L'Echo des sports of 24/12/1928, "Un procès"; d) two pages of photos of Violette's exploits, complete athlete, around 1920, Très Sport or VGA, bad condition; e) front page of the "Cri Sportif" of 6/3/1930 (the drawing only, with editorial); f) portrait by Cab (illustrated), and text by Comic-Man in "Le Cri Sportif" of 6/2/1930; g) illustrated and canvas double page of the "Cri Sportif" of 13/3/1930 : "Et dire que dans 20 ans, on me confondra avec Rigoulot" by C.Wall (30x40), "in the manner of Gaby Deslys" (1881-1920, flamboyant artist from Marseille, who after her death will be victim of a lamentable attempt of recovery of heritage by the Czech artist Navratil). A rare and important set to avoid writing nonsense. Violette won the Bol d'or auto in 1927 (see our last sale)... Poorly documented common point between Gaby and Violette: espionage.
