Nasa. Rare view of the first "HOP" of the X-3 aircraft. The X-3 Stiletto was an experimental single-engine jet aircraft manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. The Douglas X-3 Stiletto was the most elegant of the early experimental aircraft. A pair of X-3s was approved for construction on June 30, 1949. The X-3's fastest flight, on July 28, 1953, reached Mach 1,208 in 30 degrees.vintage chromogenic print on "THIS PAPER MANUFACTURED BY KODAK" paper.
