NASA. APOLLO 8 mission. Historic liftoff of the SATURNE V rocket from Cape Kenndy, Florida on December 21, 1968. The APOLLO 8 mission, composed of astronauts Frank BORMAN, James LOVELL and William ANDERS, will be the first in history to take men out of Earth orbit and to project these same men into lunar orbit. The APOLLO 8 mission will allow to realize some of the most mythical photographs of the History of the Human Space Conquest, among which those of the Earth in full size floating in the space vacuum, the 1st survey of the Earth observed by a Human from the lunar orbit, the 1st photographs of the hidden face of the Moon, etc. The APOLLO 8 mission is also the 1st manned mission of the SATURNE V rocket.
