ESSONNE. 1543. FRANÇOIS 1st, King of France. Parchment given in its name and with its heading, in 1543. - ".. Our friend Lazare de SELVE, Squire, Lord of Cromières (Haute-Vienne), of Villiers-le-Châtel (in Cerny, Essonne), of Huison (91), our ordinary Valet de Chambre. We have exposed that because of his lands and Seigneuries and others belonging to him, he has several Rights, prerogatives and preeminences and among others several Vassals, men and subjects who hold from him, several seigneuries, lands, fiefs, back-fiefs, possessions and domain as well in foy and homage as otherwise which have been neglected..." King FRANÇOIS 1er, confirms him in his Rights and asks for him the foy and homage, rights and duties of the Seigneurial by these presents. "Car ainsy nous plait, given in Paris on February 20, 1543." Parchment (23 x 38,5 cm) with the large Royal Seal of diameter 9 cm (incomplete) - Lazare de SELVE, Gentleman Ordinary of the King's Chamber, is the Son of Jean de SELVE (1475-1529) First President of the Parliament of Paris and Diplomat. François I owed him a debt of gratitude for his liberation from Spain, and gave him important gratuities. Jean de SELVE was able to acquire the Seigniory of Villiers (91, acquired in 1528), Belesbat (91), d'Huison and Vayres, near Cerny (91). His eldest son Lazare de SELVE inherited the whole.
