Louis II de BOURBON-CONDÉ, dit LE GRAND CONDÉ (Paris 1621 - Fontainebleau 1686). Piece signed with his name and titles on a SAVEGARDE; "Prince de Condé, First Prince of Blood, First Peer and Grand Master of France, Duke of Enghien, Châteauroux, Montmorency, Albret & Fronsac, Governor & Lieutenant General for the King in his provinces of Guyenne & Berry, Generalissimo of the Armies of His Majesty. Done at the Camp in front of ROCROY (Rocroi Ardennes) on September 11, 1653. Wax seal with the arms. Let us take and put under our protection and Safeguard of the King, and our special one, the Village of REVAIN (REVIN Ardennes) belonging to Mr. The Prince of CHIMAY, together with the inhabitants of the aforementioned place & all that belongs to them. Belongs to them. We make very express defenses to all Gens de guerre who are under our command, to lodge there, not to take fodder or to remove anything else, with the penalty to the riders and soldiers, of exemplary punishment, and to the Officers to answer for it in any own name. 1 page (29 x 19 cm). (Le Grand Condé became famous at the age of 21 after the Battle of ROCROI (1653), during which he inflicted a severe defeat on the Spanish Army).
