SIEGE OF LILLE 1667 - Certificate signed René POTIER, Duke of TRESMES and GESVRES (1579-1670), as Marquis de Gesvres, Captain of the King's Bodyguards, Governor of MAINE, PERCHE AND LAVAL, Lieutenant-General - He certifies that Le Sieur de FREUGIE de Périgord, one of his Bodyguards of the Company he commands was killed at the Siege of LILLE in Flanders in the palisades of the said city. Done in SAINT-GERMAIN-EN-LAYE (78) on October 6, 1667. 1p in-folio oblong. Stamp of the Cabinet d'Hozier. (The siege of Lille, takes place from August 18 to August 27, 1667 during the War of Devolution. The city is besieged and conquered by the troops of Louis XIV.)
