BURNING OF THE NOBILIARY OF BRITTANY. 1792. Decree of the Directory of the Department of ILLE-ET-VILAINE, of September 6, 1792, Year 4 of the Liberty, & 1st of the Equality. "The Commissioners in charge of the sorting of the genealogical titles, gave an account of the research which they made in the Hotel of the Commission of the former States (of Brittany), where they found a Nobiliaire of Brittany in two handwritten in-folio Volumes, & four other handwritten in-folio Volumes of the Reformation of the Nobility of Brittany by M. NOINTEL & the Commissioners of the Council; Pieces which had escaped their previous research, because when they sorted out the numerous collection of pieces of this kind in the depository of the Titles of the States, established at the Palace, the archivist thought & told them that there was none left at the Hôtel de la Commission. The administrators composing the Directory of the Department of Ille et Vilaine,... stopped that the six Volumes above mentioned will be burned with the door of the Palace, Sunday 9 of this month...
