I was very angry and surprised to learn that he had misled me and that M. d'HEROVILLE had even contributed to it, but I did not hesitate, as soon as I was informed of it, to revoke and cancel all that had been sent for Sieurs Pierre and Hyacinthe DARCY, by signifying to their relative that they would henceforth be provided with any employment in this Corps only with the attachment and on the presentation of Mr. Duke of FITZ-JAMES, as the rule of propriety requires: I am very happy to have learned of his maneuvers in time to have been able to stop their effect and prevent the regret that I would have of having been surprised...
