CORYATE (Thomas): Coryats Crudities. Hastily gobled up in five Moneths travels... Newly digested in the hungry aire of Odcombe in the County of Somerset, now dispersed to the nourishment of the travelling Members of this Kingdome. London: W. S[tansby], 1611. Small in-4 contemporary brown calf (binding very worn with tears, boards detached, first few leaves missing, our copy starting at leaf "b", also missing pages 653 and 654 replaced by photocopies, and the 4 plates h.t.). One engraving in the text (page 496). First edition of one of the first travelogues in English, written by Thomas Coryate (1577-1617), one of the great English eccentrics and travelers.
