[ MENON ]: La cuisinière bourgeoise, suivie de l'Office à l'usage de tous ceux qui fe même de dépenfes de maifons. Luzarches, ed. Daniel Morcrette, October 20, 1977, reprint of the original 1746 edition, large in-12, bound in full garnet sheepskin with morocco grain, boards decorated with three fillets and tassels in the corners, smooth spine decorated with a gilt decoration executed with period irons; gilt lace on the edges and gilt inner laces; gilt edges on marbled boards; endpapers of "feuille de chêne" paper of four colors specially handmade by Michel Duval, small number of copies on cream-colored laid paper, VII - (1) - 400 - (6) pp., preface, table of chapters, table of contents, approval, errata. Superb reprint, in facsimile, of the original 1746 edition by Gillyn in Paris. At this date Menon "invents" the "Cook", this character who has always existed but that nobody knows! It is the "antithesis" of the "Cook", which symbolizes mastery, tightness, complication and even tyranny! We must not forget that we are in the century of Louis XV and the great lords of the Ancien Régime. This book of "bourgeois" cooking puts within reach of private individuals recipes that are often of great ingenuity! The preparation is clearly explained. This is a culinary manual that has been republished many times. The copy prepared by Daniel Morcrette is the most beautiful success of his catalog with its superb binding! This book has become extremely RARE. It is here in a superb almost new condition.
