BRILLAT-SAVARIN, Anthelme: Physiology of taste or meditations of transcendental gastronomy. Theoretical, historical and current work dedicated to the Parisian gastronomes. Paris, Piazza, 1930, 2 volumes in-4, br, filled covers, cream percaline case, brown morocco title-pieces with gilt author, title and tomato, all in a dark brown suede slipcase with gilt borders, (4) bl. - 201 - (2) - (3) bl. + (4) bl. - 211 - (3) - (4) bl. pp. illustrated with 10 original etching plates in color, including a frontispiece portrait (5 per volume) by Charles HUARD (1874-1965), as well as numerous black engravings, our copy is one of 120 copies (n° 85) on vellum in the Blanchet frères et Kléber style, accompanied by a suite of all the illustrations in black on vellum paper (i.e. 101 plates). A great classic of gourmet literature here illustrated by a first-rate artist; he is the author of superb engravings executed during his numerous travels. Superb realization well complete of its continuation in black in a beautiful amateur casing. RARE. Perfect condition of the 2 volumes; slipcases with a few light stains; small lack to the title piece of volume 1; perfect condition of the suite.
