GAY, Blanche Francisque: How to Eat in a Time of Restraint. - Lot 122
GAY, Blanche Francisque: How to Eat in a Time of Restraint. General principles and recipes. Paris, ed. Bloud et Gay, (1941), the preface, made by the author, is dated October 25, 1940, in-12, br. with black cover and red and black text, 127 - (1) pp, tables of food composition, headbands, introduction by the Institut Social Familial Ménager de Paris, preface by the author, table of contents, index of products. Blanche Francisque Gay, about whom I know little, is also the author of two books on child education. This work is one of the very few books about food restriction during armed conflicts. It deals with the definition of food, its composition, the reason for rationing, how to adapt to restrictions, "the good use of everything", the concern for hygiene in spite of everything, and above all many economical recipes and substitutions. Some "seasonal menus". This book is extremely RARE and VERY RESEARCHED. Very good condition of the paper; the cover, without lack but nevertheless faded.
