DEJEAN: Traité des odeurs, suite du Traité de la distillatio - Lot 257
DEJEAN: Traité des odeurs, suite du Traité de la distillation. Paris, chez P. F. Didot jeune, Librairie de la Faculté de Médecine, quai des Augustins, 1797 or 1798 (it seems to me that the last "I" could have been erased), new edition, in-12, full speckled basane, caissons, fleurons and gilt title on burgundy morocco spine, period binding, 1 figure on the title page, 1 band representing a castle on an island, IV - 380 pp., red edges, preface, table of chapters and articles. The author, whose pseudonym was Dejean, is in reality Antoine Hornot. This treatise follows the Traité de la Distillation by the same author, first published in 1753. The first edition of the Traité des odeurs is dated 1764. Treatise on angel waters, spirits (jasmine water, Queen of Hungary), citrus fruits with piercing spirits, waters with spices, flowers or simple odors, the choice of plants used in perfumery, essential oils of fruits, spices, seeds, plants ...It also includes the manufacture of virginal milks, waters, tinctures, decoctions and cosmetic oils for the face and body, powders and oils for the complexion, teeth, lips, eyes, hands, hair, gloves and recipes for perfumes and vinegars. Note that our edition is corrected and expanded from the original edition. RARE. Very good condition of the binding as well as of the paper without any inscription or foxing.
