Lille, chez l'auteur et à l'Imprimerie Typographique et Lithographique Le Bigot frères, 1899 - 1903, three volumes in 1 strong vol. in-8, burgundy half-chagrin, light brown "gouttes" paper boards on burgundy background, fleurons, author and title gilded on spine with 5 nerves, period binding, 1270 pp. continuous, illus. in and out of text of 176 engravings (T 1), 216 engravings (T 2), 42 engravings (T 3), engravings by POYET, BERSON, HELLE, GUIGUET among others and 2 folding plates bearing the reference pl. 3 and 4! no other plate is present in this book! (T 3) "perfected agricultural distillery. System E. Guillaume - Egrot et Grange" and "Ensemble complet de la même, distillerie", tables of contents and Errata, some pencil highlighting and annotations, stamp of the former owner (A. Vasseux) on the title page of the first volume. A SUMMARY on the manufacture of alcohol and yeast from beetroot, potatoes, molasses, cereals and grains, corn, Jerusalem artichokes, carob as well as on the manufacture of grain brandies and juniper. The alcoholic fermentation is described in all its details. The author (? - 1958 in Deinze, Belgium) was a Belgian civil engineer, head of production in several large distilleries and professor at the Institut Indistriel du Nord. He is also the author of several works on sugar technology based on beet and cane sugar. ATTENTION : according to information received recently, to be complete, 2 folding plates (numbered 1 and 2) are missing in volume 1 !!! I confirm that they are not present in my copy !!! Some libraries around the world have this book but no complete copy is for sale yet! VERY RARE. Good condition of the binding with some spotting; yellowed paper with an old tear on page 143/144 but restored with some small missing letters but the engraving is quite complete.
