LEVY, Lucien-Bernard: The practice of malting. Lessons taught in 1897 - 1898 at the Institute of Fermentations of the New University of Brussels. Paris, ed. Georges Carré and C. Naud, 1899, ORIGINAL EDITION on glossy paper, in-8, dark brown cloth boards with gilt text on front cover and smooth spine, 248 - (1) pp, glossy paper with rounded corners, ed, 1 fold-out plate "comparison of a malt obtained by the Saladin system and a germination malt" and 53 figures in black in-text, table of contents, one page of presentation of the Institute of Fermentations at the University of Brucelles with professors and lectures, double page in-4 of presentation of the work to the press as well as the news of the publishing house Carré et Naud are enclosed. Lucien-Bernard Lévy (1858 - 1934) was a French professor of distillery at the Ecole Nationale des Industries Agricoles de Douai-Nord. He was an agricultural engineer and a doctor of science in Paris in 1891. Superb work dealing with malting in the distillery with a study of raw materials, a theoretical and practical study of malting including germination, conseervation and drying of malt and to finish the method of analysis in malting. Well completed with the folding plate, often missing! The "advertisement" for the release of the book in bookstores is attached. Very RARE. Very good condition of the binding and paper; the fold-out plate shows a homogeneous browning only on the edge of it and on the front pages; the launch booklet is yellowed and shows some small lacks on the edges but without importance for the text.
