FANNY DE BEAUHARNAIS. Marie-Anne-Françoise Mouchard de Chaban (1737-1813), known as Fanny, was the daughter of François Abraham Marie Mouchard de Chaban, an equerry who had acquired the office of receiver general of the finances of Champagne, and of Anne Louise Lazure, daughter of a member of the king's paneterie-bouche and cook of the small apartments of Louis XV. She became Countess of Beauharnais by marriage with Claude-Joseph de Beauharnais, lord then count of Roches-Baritaud and naval officer. She is the aunt of Josephine. She is a woman of Letters - Letter A.S. dated 17 brumaire An II (November 8, 1802) addressed to her new niece Madame de Beauharnais née de Cohausen.
