Madame CAMPAN. Jeanne-Louise-Henriette GENET (1752-1822), was the daughter of Edme-Jacques Genet, first clerk at the Foreign Affairs, and of Marie-Anne-Louise Cardon. She got married on May 11, 1774, the day after the death of King Louis XV to Pierre-Dominique-François Berthollet, known as Campan. She was Marie-Antoinette's chambermaid and confidant. She narrowly escaped the September massacre. She is the founder of the House of the Legion of Honor in Écouen - Letter A.S. written in SAINT GERMAIN EN LAYE (78) dated 1803 addressed to Mr. La Tour, doctor in medicine at Mr. Récamier's house at n°80 of the street St Honoré in Paris. Letter of invitation and signed "Genet Campan". Postmark " 72 St Germain en laye " black, and red arrival mark " 20 prairial An 11 " (June 9, 1803).
