Duchess of Plaisance, wife of Anne Charles Lebrun. Sophie de MARBOIS (1785-1854) was the daughter of Marquis François Barbé-Marbois, Intendant of Saint-Domingue and French Minister, and Elizabeth Moore, herself the daughter of William Moore, Governor of Pennsylvania. In 1802, Sophie married Anne-Charles Lebrun, General, Governor of Holland and eldest son of Charles-François Lebrun, 3rd Consul of France and Prince-Archivor of the First Empire. Settled in Greece after 1830, she made herself known there by her philanthropic activities. Letter A.S. written in Paris on February 22, 1812 addressed to a Count concerning his subscription to the Mother Society. Signed "La Duchesse Charles de Plaisance".
