General Count Joseph LAGRANGE (Sempesserre/ Gers 1763 - Pari - Lot 284
General Count Joseph LAGRANGE (Sempesserre/ Gers 1763 - Paris 1836) - 2 autograph letters signed "Lieutenant-General Count of LAGRANGE" addressed to his Cousin LAGRANGE Judge in Lectoure (Gers) and in Astaffort (Lot-et-Garonne). Paris December 20, 1814 and Paris February 9, 1816, totalling 6 pages in-4°: Family and business letters: "I received, my dear cousin, your letter of the 29th of last month, I see with pleasure the determination that you finally took to change you in Lectoure. I suffer from knowing that you are always on the road in the harsh season we are in... They exaggerate a little in Lectoure the deal I made buying my little Hotel; I think it is worth thirty or forty thousand francs more than I bought it, but it is the circumstances that contributed to making me this good deal. I await my dear cousin the money that you announce to me, I see with sorrow, according to what you marked to me that the sum will not be as considerable as I believed and on which unfortunately I counted... I am not in a position at this moment to buy land, so tell the woman of Touné that she can sell her field... I believe, my dear cousin, that my poor mother must be overwhelmed by age and infirmities but in whatever state she is I will always be happy to see her again... " (excerpt)
