AISNE. Castle of MOY (02). Baron Nicolas de GALBOIS (1778-18 - Lot 324
AISNE. Castle of MOY (02). Baron Nicolas de GALBOIS (1778-1850), Colonel of Cavalry, General in 1831, Governor of Constantine in 1838. Autograph letter signed "LILI" (the Baroness of GALBOIS) to her husband the Baron of GALBOIS, in Paris. The letter is written from the Castle of MOY, (Aisne) on July 11, 1826 (General de Galbois bought the Castle in 1817 and sold it in 1835). 2 pages in-4° : " I send you, my Dear Aimé, the letter of Mr Triboulet as an irrefutable proof of the exactitude with which I carried out your commission... I made a journey as slowly and happily as possible. At NOYON they still wanted to put us in a bad car like the one we left from LA FÈRE, but I held on... I got the coupe." She ate jam at Mr. Triboulet's "and then I went to MOY (Le Château). I found Laurence walking alone, even waltzing and doing a thousand little antics that make her charming. She is really to crunch. Judge my surprise when I knew that the wedding at Debionne's was yesterday. Wedding advanced because all the meat threatened to corrupt by this stormy weather... " I cannot yet give you any other account of MOY (the Castle), as I have not yet seen anything, but it will be the subject of another letter... "
