Dorothea von Benckendorff (1785 or 1787-1857), Countess then Princess of Lieven, was the daughter of the Russian General Benckendorff, Minister of Police of Tsar Paul I, the sister of Alexander von Benckendorff, Russian military, and of Konstantin von Benckendorff, Russian General and diplomat. She was appointed lady-in-waiting of the Empress in 1799 and married in 1800 a Russian diplomat, Lieutenant-General-Count (created Prince in 1834) Christophe de Lieven.
