Marshal VAILLANT. Pervenche Eléonore Benjamine Frotier de la Coste-Messelière (1797-1869) was the daughter of the Marquis Benjamin Léonor Louis FROTIER (who was the King's Minister Plenipotentiary to the Prince Palatine, the reigning Duke of the Two Bridges) and of Rose Barbe Baletti. Widow of General François Nicolas Benoît Haxo, she married in 1843 Jean-Baptiste Philibert Vaillant, future Marshal of France - Letter A.S. of December 29, 1852 addressed to Vitteaux (Côte-d'Or). Letter of answer to a lady who asked for the support of the Marshal. The answer is that "this one has influence only in the Corps of Military Engineers." (Envelope enclosed). Signed "Pervenche La Coste Maréchale Vaillant". + 2 unsigned letters addressed to Madame VAILLANT, of November 29, 1831 of support following a painful event; and Letter written in Vitteaux on December 13, 1832. Request of favor to find a job to the nephew of an opponent in exile.
