MÉRODE MONTALEMBERT, Marie-Anne de Mérode (1818-1904) was the daughter of Count Félix de MÉRODE, a hero of Belgian independence in 1830 and advisor to King Leopold I of Belgium, and Rosalie de Grammont, whose father, the Marquis de Grammont, was one of the principal shareholders of L'Avenir. She married on August 16, 1836 Charles Forbes René Comte de Montalembert, a French journalist, historian and politician - A.S. letter written in Paris to a Countess asking her to send her children to play.
