HENRI IV (1553-1610, King of France in 1589) / Letter signed "Henry" in his hand, 1 p in-4 (21.5 x 30.5 cm) plus address page (letter carried), from the Camps of La Fère (Aisne), May 13, 1596, to the Count of Viriville, "Captain of Fifty Men-at-Arms of my Ordinance", countersigned by the royal secretary Pierre Forge de Fresnes - Historical context: we are during the Campaign of Picardy against the Armies of the League, at the end of the siege of La Fère (the city will capitulate 3 days later) - Text: King Henry IV informs the Count of Viriville that he has resolved to use, in the next quarters, his cavalry from the Dauphiné and asks him to arrive for July with his squadron, he says he has written to the Marshal d'Ornano in this sense [The said letter from Henry IV to the Marshal d'Ornano was sold by the Maison Ader in 2017]
