Auguste LE BRETON (1913-1999, prolific author of detective n - Lot 496
Auguste LE BRETON (1913-1999, prolific author of detective novels, we owe him the word "rififi" - Many of his novels have been adapted to the cinema) / Autograph manuscript (written in his own hand) on 4 sheets in-4, totaling 5 pages of writings and sketches: Exceptional working notes for the preparation of a film about the "safe" robbery, a mythical and coveted theme in the world of burglars and therefore particularly exploited and treated in "detective stories" - The notes are accompanied by technical sketches, showing the meticulous preparation, the precision brought and especially the will of credibility of Le Breton - On the first sheet, Le Breton explains the "work of the bridge", figuring a sketch of the safe: drilling a hole in the center and tapping - He specifies: "the flashlight does not bite on an armored safe on cement" - On the second sheet, he concludes: "Safe (outdated flashlight), although excellent and effective, the work of the bridge, can not be retained for our film, I explain: the spectator will not give the desired credibility and he will be surprised that an armored door of safe opens so easily, moreover the work will be too fast and we generated to place our suspenses, apart from the drilling of the hole and the tapping the turn is not spectacular - On the contrary, the work said of the HAMMER PIN, offers all that we desire, the work is longer and more distressing:1st phase: the chest must be unsealed from the wall and laid forward slowly, very slowly on blankets and mats, in order to get the most vulnerable part of the chest, i.e. the wall adhering to the wall on the bottom. We will work on the back wall - Drilling several holes - Hand saw blade - Spare blades - We break one out of two in the process - And cutting the chest as with a can opener" and Le Breton gives on the other two sheets technical explanatory sketches - [Provenance: Auguste Le Breton Sale at Drouot of March 2015 at Gros Delettrez "Du Rififi à Drouot"]
