Cycling/Classic/Bordeaux/Desbats/Elvish. Typographical poste - Lot 80
Cycling/Classic/Bordeaux/Desbats/Elvish. Typographical poster evoking the teeming life of cycling in the provinces during the recovery from the Second World War: "Easter Monday, May 29, 1948, FFC, Ville de Saintes, Critérium routier du Sud-Ouest, Xè Bordeaux-Saintes, organized by the Vélo Club Saintais, departure from the 4 pavillons in Bordeaux, arrival at the velodrome, 50,000f prize money...". Canvas, very poor condition, folded, 89x56. 150 riders covet the 50,000f prize, but in the sprint, it's a future great, Albert Dolhats (1921-2009) from Bayonne, who comes out on top (125km in 3h), with Bébert's big calves on Elvish cycles. This beautiful classic was also a springboard for Poulidor in 1960.
