Cycling/Dupré/Piste/Roanne/Gonzague-Privat. Original poster: - Lot 91
Cycling/Dupré/Piste/Roanne/Gonzague-Privat. Original poster: "La Française, marque Diamant, Victor Dupré, on Michelin tires." Victor Dupré de Roanne by Gonzague-Privat (1880-1915) This beautiful image by graphic designer and champion Gonzague Privat has been reproduced in several versions (tricolored jersey), but it's here that we find the crack Roanne rider, brush cut, purple-yellow jersey, ready to pounce. Dupré's (1883-1938) big year was 1909, when he won both the world and national titles. He had made a brief appearance in the 1903 Tour, before switching to the track, where he raced in the Grands Prix of Roanne, Marseille, Angers, Reims, Vichy and Nantes. In 1913, he came 2nd in the first Six Jours de Paris with Octave Lapize. Not bad for two disabled champions. Canvas lithograph, imp Dupont, 160.5x112.5.
