Cycling/Jockey/Mich. Original poster: "Bicyclette Jean Louve - Lot 104
Cycling/Jockey/Mich. Original poster: "Bicyclette Jean Louvet et Cie, le Pur Sang des vélos, Remarquez les jockeys qui la montent...". By Mich (alias Michel Liebeaux, 1881-1923). This is one of the lesser-known posters by the Périgourdine genius, and yet it takes us back to the very roots of the sport, with its adjacency to the horse, which also influenced the beginnings of foot racing with pedestrians in toques, helmets, whips and pseudonyms. But to stay in the world of cycling, let's just remember that Jimmy Michaël, Fernand Charron, Deschamps, Piard and the great Emile Idée, doyen of world cyclists, were very much involved in the world of horses, which also inspired draisian heads in prehistoric times, without bearing the Gladiator hallmark. A heritage piece for many reasons. Canvas lithograph. TBE. 159X119.
