Cycling/Montceau-les-Mines/Huma. - Lot 114
Cycling/Montceau-les-Mines/Huma.
Superb original canvas poster: "Paris-Montceau-les-Mines, July 28, 1946, organized by "L'Humanité", and the Syndicat d'Eclairage et des Forces Motrices de Montceau et de la région, with the participation of the greatest professional riders...125,000 f in prize money" With this rider plunging from the Eiffel Tower to the turnstile at the Montceau Mines (in the style of Pellos), we're transported back to the sublime cycling of the revival.... It was the regional, local Louis Gauthier (1916-2005), who triumphed ahead of Belgian-Russian Albert Anutchin (1920-1997) and Olonnais Eloi Tassin (1912-1977). Gauthier was a "big" rider, with a superb record of achievements, even though he finished second in Paris-Roubaix and Paris-Tours. Wrapped in cloth. 80 x 59 cm. VERY RARE. Very rare.
