Cycling/Six Jours/Paris/Grenelle. Original poster: "6 JOURS, - Lot 135
Cycling/Six Jours/Paris/Grenelle. Original poster: "6 JOURS, jours et nuits, au Vel'd'Hiv, 5 au 11 novembre 1935...". By Kramer. Every year, the newspaper "L'Auto", the Vel'd'Hiv concessionaire, organized a competition between poster artists to promote its organizations, in particular the 6 Jours, the most popular of all. That year, it was Mr. Kramer who won the competition, noting the 7 multicolored runners spurting from the giant 6 transformed into a velodrome, and the wings made from the two V's of Vel'd'HiV. For the record, the start of the 18th Six Jours de Paris was given by Jules Ladoumègue, the first event reserved for road racers and contested by national teams. Vietto-Giorgetti won the 6th evening after a 7-hour chase, and finished 6th, a long way from the winners: Archambaud-Lapébie, who covered 3,341 km in 145 hours. Second were the Italians Guerra-Olmo, and third the Belgians Romain and Sylvère Maes. They were ahead of Magne-Ch.Pélissier, Speicher-Leducq were 7th. Lithograph, canvas. Never seen before. Museum piece. 116 x 77.5 cm
