Fencing/Omnisport/Trophy/Poland. Trophy awarded in 1934 at t - Lot 170
Fencing/Omnisport/Trophy/Poland. Trophy awarded in 1934 at the European Fencing Championships in Warsaw. Awarded by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Beck, it's a four-sided marvel... Rugby is there, but also and above all fencing. This trophy, which really is a trophy, and which contrasts with the amusements that parade through today's sporting world, is signed by the great Polish artist Josep Klukowski (1894-1945). A versatile artist who was a painter, sculptor and artillery commander !!!! Sadly, he was murdered a week before the end of the war in the Sachsehausen camp. What remains is this monument! Who took it away in 1934? The Hungarian fencers, who dominated the competition, or the French, who shone only in épée. Bronze. Dimensions 34x20x15cm, weight 9 kilos.
