ZENITH - Lot 161

ZENITH Altimeter Mechanical measuring instrument produced by Zenith during the first years of the 20th century for various army corps and for the first military aircraft. - Black metal case, black dial with white-painted Arabic numerals, white-painted rectangular-tipped straight hand. Case and dial signed. Diameter: 115 mm Condition report: Very good overall condition, wear scratches and patina on case. Expert's note Aviation and watchmaking are intimately linked. One can't go without the other, and these on-board instruments demonstrate Zenith's expertise. Joël Duval notes on his ZenitHistoric website that these pieces date from the 1910s. Note that the hand on lot 161 is reminiscent of the El Primero chronograph second hand.
