LOIRE. Château de VOUGY. A box containing several hundred letters and a few items, from the early 20th century, mainly addressed to Madame CHEVALARD, at Château de VOUGY, Loire. They include letters and visiting cards from family and personalities of the period: (History: The MICHON DE LA FARGE family owned the fiefs of Vougy, Aillant, Bonvert, Chamarande (Loire), Les Forges, Pouily, Montrenard, Manimont-Foix, Saint-Germain de Vaux. Jean-Louis's son, Jean Étienne MICHON DE VOUGY, was a cuirassier captain and a deputy for the Loire in 1816. The latter, Comte de Vougy, was a general councillor and mayor of Vougy for 50 years. He died without direct descendants in 1885. His nephew Jules de CHEVALARD succeeded him until 1905).
