Meliss, 'Surveyor-General of the Island', first edition, 1857, no publisher's note, bound in oblong in-8 boards, gilt-lettered boards, no pagination, lithographs numbered and preceded by an explanatory page, table of contents (foxing, soiling, used condition), copy enriched with 2 original maps drawn in ink on the frontispiece page and 2 engravings pasted on from an earlier work - the small booklet prepared at the time by the owner, giving the complete French translation of the album, respecting its layout, is enclosed; several leaves of this notebook bear the dry stamp of the Bordeaux shipowning family Rolland Frères, providing information on the author of this manuscript.
