DINKY TOYS - UK (1) VERY RARE OUT OF STOCK VAN BROOKE BOND TEA PROMOTIONAL TROJAN It's the English Baroclem! Although far fewer copies were produced. Published on the initiative of Trojan and Brooke Bond Tea, it was distributed in 1957-58 by the Croydon (south London) firm's dealers to mark the replacement of the famous van, equipped since 1952 with the Perkins diesel engine... but on the move for much longer, as the advertising message on the roof of the toy and on one side of the box reveals: "Since 1924, more than 5,700 Trojan Little Red Vans supplied". This promotional item has rarely surfaced, most recently on January 10, 2023 at Vectis, where it shattered the estimate. The present piece, in blood-red with the classic "Brooke Bond Tea" advertisements on its sides (Ref. 455), is in near-new condition, with no chips whatsoever. Only the "Bond" lettering on the right-hand side is slightly worn. The label affixed to the roof, in red letters on a white background, is perfectly preserved, as is the one affixed to one side of the box. This case, worn but complete, has been reinforced with adhesive paper on the side opposite that of the advertising label, as well as on the inside of a flap. A-/c+
