Duc d'ORLÉANS (Louis, Duc de CHARTRES, then Duc d'ORLÉANS) VERSAILLES August 4, 1703 - Paris 1752 - Son of Philippe d'Orléans, known as Le Régent. He entered the Councils (1718) and became Governor of DAUPHINÉ (1719), Colonel General of the Infantry (1721) and Head of the Council of State. The death of his wife, the Princesse de BADE, plunged him into deep melancholy (1742). Retired to the Abbey of Sainte-Geneviève, he devoted himself to theological studies. He had a Son Louis Philippe Duc d'ORLÉANS: signed "LOUIS D'ORLÉANS" to his name and titles as Governor and Lieutenant-General of Dauphiné - He established Sieur PERROY DE MURCY in the Charge of Captain in the MONTFORT Infantry Regiment.
