AUDE. 1763. PUBLIC HUNTING OF WOLVES AT SAISSAC (11) in the Montagne Noire. Order from Jean-Louis D'ANCEAU, Chevalier, Seigneur de Lavelanet, Grand-Maître Enquêteur et Général réformateur des Eaux Forêts de France au Département de LANGUEDOC. "As we have been informed that a large number of wolves have taken refuge in the Royal Forests, located on the Montagne Noire, under the control of the Maîtrise des Eaux Forêts de CASTELNAUDARY, from where they are spreading out into the countryside, committing great disorders; it being necessary for the public good to hoot them out to give them the Chasse,... we have commissioned M. François TOURNIER Maitre particulier de la Maîtrise des Eaux et Forêts de Castelnaudary, to summon and assemble the inhabitants of the neighbouring parishes of the said Forêts Royales, located on the Montagne Noire, to be present at the site... with sticks and rifles, under penalty of a 10-lb fine for each defaulting party. Done in Toulouse on April 16, 1763.... Requérons les Maire, Consuls, principaux habitants de la Ville de SAISSAC, et du lieu d'ARFONS pour l'exécution de la présente ordonnance. Shipped to Castelnaudary on May 10, 1763. Folder (47 x 37 cm) Condition B+
