DRUGS. POPPY OILS. 1774. Letters patent from the King, ordering freedom of trade in PAVOT oils, known as OEILLET. Given at VERSAILLES Dec. 20, 1774. Impr. 4 pp in-4° - headband: "... permitted to Grocers, Shoppers, Greasers, etc., having the right to bring to Paris, sell and debit olive oils other species of oils, ... to sell and sell PAVOT's oils, known as carnation oils, pure and unmixed...". "... it is no inconvenience to consume it daily in the provinces of Beaujolais, Picardie, Franche-Comté, Alsace Flandres,..., as this oil contains nothing narcotic or contrary to health...".
