AIN. 1797. LOCAL NATURAL HISTORY COLLECTION. Avis du citoyen LUC Professeur d'histoire naturelle à École centrale du département de l'AIN. Done in BOURG (01) 30 Pluviôse An 5 (February 18, 1797). He invites the municipal administrations of the cantons and the citizens to collect and transmit to him the various objects which will seem to them worthy of attention in the three reigns of nature, in particular to gather to address to him in Bourg (01) samples of earth, stones, crystals other mineral substances of their cantons, as well as seeds, plants, insects, reptiles, birds quadrupeds remarkable little known in the country; to announce to him the accidents, phenomena and particular facts which can give place to the observations with the study. By this simple and easy means, we will be able to form in a short time a Collection of Local Natural History, which will become especially useful to this department... on the progress of knowledge on the advancement of agriculture of arts in the Department of the AIN." - Cupboard (46 x 37) Condition A.
