Boxing/ Bouttier/ Monzon/ Colombes/ Paris-Match. Rare cardbo - Lot 22
Boxing/ Bouttier/ Monzon/ Colombes/ Paris-Match. Rare cardboard poster announcing the Bouttier-Monzon fight: "Stade Yves du Manoir, Championnat du monde des moyens, Carlos Monzon contre Jean-Claude Bouttier", June 16, 1972. 40x5x50. A little masterpiece by Luigi Castiglioni, adding gold to this great fight. This match, which was also an Argentina-France match for Alain Delon, was sponsored by Paris-Match and RTL. Sadly, all the players involved are now deceased. First of all Monzon (1942-1995), who won the fight by throwing in the towel in the 13th round. El Macho, who triumphed in 87 fights, also won the world title 14 times against Griffith, Napoles, Valdes, Mundine, Tonna and a second time against Bouttier (with fists in 73 at Roland-Garros). As for our champion, Bouttier (1944-2019), the butcher of Laval, he won 64 fights, including two in 71 and 74 for the European title, before becoming a consultant for Canal +. Finally, the brilliant graphic designer Luigi Castiglioni (1936-2003), who revolutionized the sports poster in the 1970s, and who died between his two gloved fighters in 2003, left so many masterpieces (proof), that he's not about to be forgotten.
