Cycling/ Half-distance / The dead/ The living/ Guignard. Set - Lot 51
Cycling/ Half-distance / The dead/ The living/ Guignard. Set of 8 pieces embracing middle-distance cycling in its entirety: a) death list. Terrible obituary list of the dead and victims of middle-distance cycling. In fact, a double printed and handwritten list drawn up in 1909, listing in detail 40 victims of motorcycle racing, both injured and dead. A rare document drawn up by a specialist of the belle époque. On the back of a list, palmares of the first 6 days of New-York; b) 4 cpa, with champions who died on the track, one of Brécy with his family, three for the Belgian Verbist (full-length, behind motorcycle, his funeral); c) card with double dedication from Paul Guignard (1876-1965), the man who broke the 100km/h barrier. On this card, he is photographed with the Kronprinz at the Berlin GP on 8/19/1906, but the dedication is dated and signed by him from Berlin, October 17, 1906 (with stamp, seal); 2 cpa CM and ND from Henri Contenet (1875-1965). In which we understand that Germany was a stayer's paradise, and that the jinx had spared Paul and Henri, who flew off at the same time. A page of stories
