Cycling/ Rennes/ Huret/ Bretagne. Superb lithograph announci - Lot 88
Cycling/ Rennes/ Huret/ Bretagne. Superb lithograph announcing the track cycling races organized on July 22, 1894 by the Véloce Club Rennais, founded in 1869. For the purposes of this major festive gathering (6h cycling, veterans' races, foot races) on the Rennes velodrome, the poster was overprinted with important typography. We can see the urgent need for a strong hype, a relaunch. In any case, in terms of attendance, the meeting was worth the trip, as the best champions were there. The proof was in the immense Constant Huret (1870-1951), who flew over these 6 Hours, covering 191km870. He beat Starbuck, William Martin, another great 6-day racer, and the Allard brothers from Arles, who had made a specialty of triumphing in the great Breton road races, both in Rennes and Nantes. Museum piece. The image of Th.Rauch's young velodrome remains clearly visible... We see the track, the three champions in full effort, the judge at the finish, the festive flags. With tax stamp. Imprimerie des Arts et Manufacture, 3 place de la Halle aux Blés, Rennes. 60X80. Wrapped in cloth. BE. That year, Constant also won the first of his 4 Bols d'or over 24 hours.
