Soccer / Chayrigues / Red Star/ Bienfaisance / Jeux Interall - Lot 131
Soccer / Chayrigues / Red Star/ Bienfaisance / Jeux Interalliés/ Avranches. Amazing photo of the charity match in aid of the great goalkeeper Pierrot Chayrigues (1892-1965). Held in St Ouen on the Red-Star pitch (Pierrot's club from 1911 to 1925) at 50-58 rue de la Chapelle, between the French (our photo) and the foreigners from Paris, this friendly event ended in a 2-2 draw on October 25, 1919. The Parisians (LFA), led by CAP international Henri Bard, led 2-0 at half-time, and included Devie, Poullain, Mercier, Olivan, Fontaine, Mistral and Descouleurs (goalkeeper l). Under the benevolent eye of Jules Rimet and Alice Milliat, it was Chayrigues, much reduced by an accident during the recent Jeux Interalliés final, lost (3-2) to Czechoslovakia, who kicked off the game. The entire takings of 1580f, the equivalent of 23,000 euros (to be appreciated in the difficulties of the time), put a smile on his face. Curiosities: apart from the disjointed palisade, the black shorts and the spectators on the pitch, there are only 10 on this document, one of the first charity matches. Two thumbtack holes. 11,5x17,5. It should be noted that this Red Star and French national team stalwart (21 caps) was seriously injured again at the 1924 Olympic Games, in the match he lost to eventual winners Uruguay (5-1). Pierrot went on to coach Avranches (1949-56).
