Olympic Games/ Summer, 1928, Amsterdam/ Rooster . Two offici - Lot 250
Olympic Games/ Summer, 1928, Amsterdam/ Rooster . Two official coins:a) participant or commemorative medal, round, bronze (diam: 5.5), a little oxidized. Obverse: two athletes with torch, reverse: the goddess Nike on the marathon tower and stadium, by J.C.Wieneke; b) embroidered fabric rooster of the French team (with two small holes), 9x7.5. This medal (5900 copies) also reminds us that it was here that the flame appeared, and not in Berlin, and that women finally exist at the Games. There were 231 wearers of this magic rooster, and they won 21 medals, which earned them 7th place in the world rankings... Who wore this rooster? Lucien Gaudin, Louis Hostin, or someone else? Let's dream...
