Olympic Games/ Summer, 1996, Atlanta/ Gold medal/Cyril Bos. - Lot 293
Olympic Games/ Summer, 1996, Atlanta/ Gold medal/Cyril Bos. The gold medal for Olympic team pursuit went to Cyril Bos of the French team at the XXVI Olympic Games. Indeed, as with Dumas, the four musketeers were five in number, and while the team in the final was made up of Christophe Capelle, Philippe Ermenault, Jean-Michel Monin and Francis Moreau, Cyril Bos had also contributed to qualification in the previous rounds and as such officially deserved and received the gold medal. The fact that he does not appear with his four companions in the final round is frustrating, but he is nonetheless officially Olympic champion...because as always, such a medal is won by 5 or 6...Obverse: "Victory brandishing the crown and palm in front of the Colissée; obverse: Centenial Olympic Games, with the torch, the Atlanta 1996 logo, and in a pictogram surrounded by laurel, the cyclist...". In silver-gilt, diam: 7 cm, weight 180g. Designer: Malcolm Grear Designers. Three small chips on the edge with the words "team pursuit"....Price : 637 ex. Museum piece. With its wide, beautiful green ribbon, Atlanta 1996. In case. Our handsome champion from Normandy, born in Mont St Aignan like Jacques Anquetil, was 24 at the time.
