Olympic Games/ winter, 1968, Grenoble. Two official pieces f - Lot 305
Olympic Games/ winter, 1968, Grenoble. Two official pieces from the Xth Winter Games: a) bronze participant's medal, by Mme Josette Hébert-Coëffin (1907-1973), la victoire laurée, and view of Grenoble, diam: 6.8; b) blue enamelled skewer, with official logos, by Arthus-Bertrand. Her Grenoble medal often goes unnoticed, yet it's one of the marvels signed by the great sculptor from Normandy, first laureate of the Guggenheim Foundation in 1937. In the course of a considerable body of work (over 300 medals), much of it animal-based, the artist collaborated with great success for Sèvres and La Monnaie, and her talent and sensitivity won her the friendship and recognition of the greatest names, starting with de Gaulle and Cocteau.
