NASA. Apollo 12 mission. Splashdown of the Apollo 12 capsule - Lot 49
NASA. Apollo 12 mission. Splashdown of the Apollo 12 capsule in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on November 19, 1969. The splashdown was particularly brutal and, under the impact, a 16-millimeter camera was dislodged from its mount and struck Bean violently, opening up 2.5 cm of his forehead. Although the injury was not serious, it did result in six stitches. The crew, then the module, were recovered by USS Hornet sailors using US Navy helicopters. Vintage chromogenic print on paper: "THIS PAPER MANUFACTURED BY KODAK". 25.2 x 21CM with margins.
