NASA. LARGE FORMAT. SPACEWALK, INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. - Lot 243
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. SPACEWALK, INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. Russian astronaut Oleg Kononenko (red-banded suit) works outside the International Space Station, more than 250 miles above Earth, to inspect the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft. During the outing, he and his colleague Sergey Prokopyev (out of frame) examined the outer hull of the Soyuz spacecraft docked to the Rassvet module. The area corresponds to the location of a small hole inside the Soyuz habitation module, discovered in August and which caused a drop in pressure in the space station. The hole was repaired internally with a sealant within hours of its detection. During the sortie, Kononenko and Prokopyev took samples of some of the sealant that had seeped into the outer hull before returning to Pirs' docking compartment and closing the hatch, at the end of a seven-hour, forty-five-minute sortie. 2018.period chromogenic print. Numbering on front. Legend on back label. 40.6 x 40.6CM.
