NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This sparkling spiral galaxy appears alm - Lot 248
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This sparkling spiral galaxy appears almost stretched across the sky in this image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The galaxy features a sharp spiral structure and swirling arms speckled with the brilliant blue hue of newly-formed stars. Like many other images of galaxies we admire today, this image was captured by the Hubble Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). This remarkable instrument was installed in 2002 and, after some maintenance over the years by intrepid astronauts, is still in operation. Here you can access many of the stunning images captured by the ACS, featuring objects ranging from unusual spiral galaxies to dark, towering nebulae, bizarre cosmic phenomena and glittering clusters composed of thousands and thousands of stars.Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering on front. Legend on back label. 40.6 x 40.6CM with margins.
